Reitenour Teams with Jeff Gordon in support of Benefit for Riley Hospital
Megan Reitenour was invited to participate in the 12th annual bowling tournament benefiting the Jeff Gordon Children's Foundation Pediatric Cancer Research Fund at Riley Hospital for Children.
The benefit was held at Western Bowl in Indianapolis, IN on Thursday July 26, 2013 and was presented by The Jeff Gordon Foundation, which has raised more than $2 million dollars to Riley Hospital for Children since its inception in 2001. In addition to pledging another $1.5 million dollars in 2010 to establish the Jeff Gordon Children's Foundation Pediatric Cancer Research Fund. This fund provides vital resources for Riley Hospital Indiana University School of Medicine for researchers seeking to impact treatments, therapies, and cures.
Reitenour said, "I was surprised to hear that Riley Hospital's Cancer Center treats 85 percent of all Indiana children diagnosed with cancer and each year approximately 250 children in Indiana are diagnosed. That was staggering and alarming statistics to me, which only included statistics for one state. I could only imagine what it must be for the entire U.S. and abroad. Anytime I'm given the opportunity in helping to make a difference and being involved with such a great charity who really wants to help and make a difference for children who really need it, I'm thrilled to do so."
